Over 400 guests from media, and sport enjoyed a glittering afternoon at the Pavilion at the Tower of London on December 6, where top sports stars were honoured for their outstanding achievements at the annual SJA British Sports Awards.
Chris Froome picked up Sportsman of the Year, Hannah Cockcroft, Sportswoman and the successful World Cup women’s England cricketers won Team of the Year.
Sponsored by the National Lottery, who also presented a Spirit of Sport Award to Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh, the SJA Awards are the oldest sports awards in Britain. The winners are chosen through a ballot of the Association’s 750 memberships and there were 12 awards in all.

The SJA, in association with The National Lottery, is once again gathering to celebrate the successes and achievements of the British sporting year. The British Sports Awards are being held at the Pavilion at the Tower of London within the mighty walls of one of the capital’s most iconic landmarks on Wednesday 6th December.
Guests from the world of British sport will be there to receive due recognition at a gala occasion for the 2017 Sportsman, Sportswoman and Sports Team of the Year as well as many other awards.

Start2Finish are pleased to once again be working on the Sport Scotland Young Ambassadors programme. Young Ambassadors is an exciting and energetic lottery funded programme to help develop young people as leaders in sport. Each year, two pupils from each secondary school in Scotland are chosen as Young Ambassadors to promote sport, and motivate and inspire other young people to get involved in sport in their schools, clubs and local communities. There have been over 2,500 Young Ambassadors in Scotland since the programme started in 2012, and 650 new Young Ambassadors attend the conferences each year.
